Spark plugs

A spark plug is an element that creates the spark in the ignition system of your MG Midget. A spark is necessary to ignite the fuel and air mixture in the combustion chamber. There are many things that influence the service life of a spark plug for your  MG Midget. The quality of components of the spark plug, driving style, condition of the piston and cylinder, quality of petrol used.
 
Signals of defective spark plug
In most cases, even if one of the spark plugs is defective, you will notice an increase of CO in the exhaust fumes, an increase in fuel consumption, shaking of the engine during idle. It will be difficult to start the engine (especially in cold weather). Decrease of power, decrease RPM, shaky engine during driving.
 
Causes of malfunctions
Using poor-quality petrol may lead to deposit forming on spark plugs. This will also happen if the cylinder head gasket is worn and let’s coolant enter the combustion chambers. Soot build-up occurs when oil enters the combustion chambers. They impede current flow and spark creation. Also, cracked insulator, damaged connectors, and molten electrodes cause problems.
