MGB 1962-1980 - Kupplungsnehmerzylinder
The clutch mechanism disconnects the engine flywheel from the gearbox of your MGB. It is the connection between the engine and the gearbox.
Type of clutch:
Friction: The force of friction ensures the transmission of torque
Hydraulic: The flow of fluid ensures the transmission of torque
Signs of a defective clutch:
-Partial disengagement causing the vehicle to lose gear with additional noises or vibrations, or if the pedal is more difficult to depress or release
-Partial disengagement resulting in a burning smell in the car, higher fuel consumption, loss of power or overheating of the engine
-Vibration or instability of the vehicle
Causes of clutch failure:
-Starting at high speeds
-Pressing the clutch too often while driving
-Limited service life of clutch parts
-Low quality of spare parts
-Reforming of oil seals in the engine or gearbox
